The Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a white wine, produced in a small Tuscan area between Siena, Pisa and Florence, close with the San Gimignano territory, which is famous all around the word. It is controlled and guaranteed by the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e garantita (DOCG) mark. It has been the first wine to receive the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) certification. In 1966 and in 1993 was named also DOCG.

Production technique:

Vernaccia grapes are hand harvested on the last two weeks of September, the bunches are softly pressed, the juice is immediately separate from the skin and racked in temperature control steel tanks where it ferments for two weeks. At the end of alcoholic fermentation the wine is cleaned from the gross sediment, moved in clean steel tanks where it mature for 6 months before the release

Organoleptic features:

Straw/greenish yellow, the nose remind golden apple, white peach and sage. Fresh, and tasty with pleasant sour almond aftertaste, typical in Vernaccia di San Gimignano wines

Coupling:

Perfect as aperitif, with row fish and crustaceous or fresh cheese
